Burritos & Bubbles

The Lightbox Café in Bridge Street, Peterborough, is playing host to a very special Mexican pop-up on Friday 23rd March.
The highly popular, licensed “modern tea room” has invited our innovative outside catering to offer customers a true taste of Latin America. BMC has recently expanded its team, with the well- known “Macho Burrito” queen Claire Morgan joining, a lady who has spent a great deal of time living and cooking in Mexico, Ecuador and Argentina.
Promising to be something rather different to the mainstream fayre, the menu will include burritos of Barbacoa beef cheek, Pollo Loco, and a Viva Vegan which will all be served with Pica de Gallo, queso, crema, jalapeno and refried beans. The burritos will be accompanied by a side of Mexican slaw with a choice of authentic Valantina hot sauce or the muy picante Valantina Black Label.
Lightbox owner Eve Warner said: “We believe this authentic cooking presents our customers a chance to try food they haven’t come across before, and priced at £12.95 per head including a glass of Prosecco, or beer/soft drink, also represents exceptional value. The BMC team will also be preparing additional starters and side dishes, while our bar team will be mixing up Latin cocktails and a special dessert/drink called a Hot Choc Shock Shot, which is Tequila, a shot of rich hot chocolate and a dusting of chilli flakes.”
The Bread Meat Cheese team of Jim and Nigel Davis and of course Claire, will be serving from 7pm. Pre-booking is required and this can be done at The Lightbox Café at 31 Bridge Street or via www.thelighboxcafe.co.uk where further information will be posted.

Two more testimonials

From Bride Suzie S.:

“Thanks very much to all four of you for the amazing food you made for our wedding day. We had so many comments about how delicious it was, which is a testament to you as chefs.”

Our latest testimonial

I met with the very friendly Jim a few months prior to my 40th birthday party to discuss a menu – and described my favourite food types, chefs and recipe books.  He came up with a mouthwatering middle eastern menu full of interesting twists and incredible ingredients.  On my birthday evening the team produced a delicious feast – the smells and flavours were incredible and it really had the wow factor.  All my guests loved the food and we’ve been eating like kings on the leftovers for a few days.

Thank you Jim, Nigel and your team for helping create such a memorable evening.  I’ve already recommended you to everyone I know!

EAT LOCAL – EAT DELICIOUS

Happy 1st Birthday to us

We are going to be celebrating our first birthday from Monday 20th February with some special new sandwiches.

Our recently launched “B.M.C.C.B.L.T.” – our take on a Club, roast chicken, bacon, scorched jalapeno mayo, pico de romaine, tomato, our “magic dust” crisps in 3 slices of sourdough from Hambleton will be joined by two new sandwiches to challenge the traditional, supermarket triangle made off-site, at least some hours ago.

“The Chutzpah Experience” is roast beef, our own pickled mushrooms, rocket & mustard in a toasted Hambleton rustic roll.

“Number 46” celebrates romesco sauce of roasted red peppers, almonds & garlic on melted Poacher cheese in toasted sourdough.

To toast our anniversary we are offering fresh coffee for just £1 all week!

Try an American!

From Monday 16th January we are giving you the chance to try an American sandwich perhaps for the first time.

What’s Your Beef (salt beef)

The Meg Ryan (pastrami)

Cubano Beach (sweet ham)

or perhaps just a simple Grilled Cheese.

Try half of any of these sandwiches for just £2.50,  any three halves for £5 or make the top two a Reuben for just another 50p.

Better still, take a coffee of your choice for £1.

Last Chance Macho Burrito

We will be sorry to say goodbye to Claire at the end of the week as she heads off to Ecuador.  But before she goes, she will busy on Thursday & Friday offering you a last chance to grab the legendary Macho Burrito.  Come and say bye and taste her hallmark streetfood.

A Real Sandwich

I spotted this fantastic sandwich shop and tried one with brown shrimps – AMAZING!! What a knowledgeable guy – each sandwich has a name and a story behind it from his travels around the world, plus the produce is a local as you can get. I am definitely going there again – now I’ve tasted these, why would I want a vacuumed packed high street brand ever again?! 10/10
